Pinehurst is such a magical place by itself and winning there is just something that is difficult to describe. Axel had a very strong start, he played very early the first day and had 7 birdies on hole 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. He signed a 29, which we believe is the record on this course for this age, since the tournament exists.

The next day, he birdied 5 and 6, and finished with a bogey. The last round, the pressure was a little bit higher, especially when the competitors are coming back strong, Axel had a double bogey on hole 4 but was able to come back with a birdie on the next hole and finish with 4 pars. Axel won the World Championship by 3 shots over his friend Trebor Melendez, the defending champion.
